What Topit learns from, and what it never touches
Topit gets better at picking photos by learning which shots people actually choose. Here is exactly what that means for your work. The full detail is in the Privacy Notice and the Studio Terms.
What we learn from
- Which photos your client picks, and which shots of the same moment they passed over.
- Which photos you pin to the top, remove from it or hide.
- For each of those, a numerical summary of the whole image and its quality scores. Not the photo itself.
- Stored without your name, your client's name or email, or any link back to the gallery, and kept after you delete it.
- You can turn this off at any time in your studio settings.
What we never do
- Keep your photos to train AI, or use them to train image-generating models.
- Detect, measure or recognize faces in your galleries.
- Sell your photos or your clients' details, or use them for advertising.
- Show a gallery to anyone without its link and code.
- Claim any rights in your work. You keep your copyright.
Questions photographers ask
Is Topit Studio AI culling software?
It culls the JPEG or PNG exports you upload: every frame is scored, bursts and near-duplicates stack into moments, and the best shot of each moment comes first as your selects. You can pin or remove any photo. It does not read RAW files yet, so it works after you export rather than inside Lightroom.
What files can I upload?
JPEG and PNG, up to 60 MB each. Export from Lightroom, Capture One or your editor of choice. RAW and HEIC files are not supported yet.
Do my clients need an account?
No. They open the link, enter the code and see their photos. If they want Topit to rank their favorites for their own profiles, they can make a free account, and that is their choice.
Are the photos watermarked?
The web-size copies your client views and shares carry a small Topit mark in the corner. Full-quality downloads are your original files, untouched.
How does Topit pick the top photos?
It scores sharpness, exposure and where the detail sits in the frame, compares how typical each frame is of the shoot, and keeps only the best frame of each moment. It never looks at faces. You can pin or remove any photo.
What happens when a gallery expires or I delete it?
Expired galleries stop opening for your client. Deleting a shoot removes every stored photo and your client's picks right away. Copies a client already downloaded, or moved into their own Topit account, are theirs.
Can I sell prints or products through my gallery?
Not today. Topit Studio is for sharing, delivering and proofing photos. Clients download their photos, and nothing is sold through the gallery.
Can I turn off training?
Yes. Studio settings has a switch. Turning it off stops new signals and deletes the ones already recorded from your current shoots. Signals from shoots you deleted earlier no longer link to anything, so they cannot be found and stay.
